Fight those Winter Blues

It’s only the second week of January and I’m already looking forward to Spring.
To chase away those winter blues, I have compiled a list of things I can look forward to until spring arrives.

Snow days
Believe it or not, these are rare but we make the most of them.
If the weather says a snowstorm is coming people usually flock to the stores to stock up on food. Here are few other things to consider as prep for snow days.
You never know if the power will go out in your area.
Make sure all of your electronics are fully charged. So get out your tablets, phones. (I’ve heard Alexa can lose her little mind in a power outage but that may be old news.) So anyway, power up just in case. We like to have a few board games handy as well. Don’t forget candles, matches, and flashlights (don’t use your flashlight app if you don’t have to during an outage because they drain your battery fast!)
A thermos of hot water for cocoa is a good idea as well, especially if you don’t have a gas stove.
Notebook and pen. (Nothing should stop you from getting your writing in.)
At his point, we gather together and play board games or read or write.  For more ideas check out

Hot Cocoa
I am a chocoholic, but I don’t hot cocoa unless It’s snowing outside. Then I go all out, marshmallows, whipped topping (sometimes peppermint schnapps) Yum. Here’s a site that knows how to do hot cocoa right.
Soft scarves
I LOVE wearing scarves. Sometimes I crochet my own. Don’t know how to crochet? Check out this YouTube channel to learn how to make lots of cozy things.

When my kids we little we lived by the perfect sledding hill (not too high, not too small.) I would send them out bundled up with their sleds and a thermos of hot cocoa. They’d meet up with the rest of the neighbor kids and sled for hours. They’d come in red-cheeked and tired. Great memories they still talk about today and we try to make a point to get out with the grandkids at least once during the winter so they can experience the joy of sledding too.

Warm socks
January is the perfect time to buy those warm cushy socks because the stores are already marking them down to make room for their spring inventory.

Umm yeah, I kind of have a thing for cute boots. I can wear every pair in my collection because in January (at least where I live) it is always boot weather.

Books: I love snuggling up in a warm blanket on a cold day with a book. If you’re looking for something to read during the cold winter months check out my books.

Nixie works at Recurve, a popular shooting range. She spends all of her free time at work or at practice. She's grown accustom to an almost nonexistent love life, but when good looking Garrett shows for lessons, Cupid shows too. This new development brings out Nixie's competitive nature and pits two rival shooters against each other for first place in the tournament and in Garrett"s heart.

Double Exposure
Ashleigh gets what she wants most of the time. After being dumped by Ty Collins in front of the entire school, she vows revenge and will do anything to get it. New guy Keegan Smith can help her settle the score, but will the cost be more than she can afford?

Moon Dance
Luna has one wish for her birthday. She wants to spend it forgetting her ex and celebrating with her family. When her plans fall through she and her cousin Nina decide to cruise along the coast. Once again, her plans go awry. Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and Luna feels every minute drag by before the sun gives way to the moon and she realizes her wish has been unfolding all day long.

The Sister Sleuths and The Shadowman
Sandy and Samantha may be twins, but sharing the same birthday is where their similarities end. It seems like the girls will never find common ground, until they stumble upon another set of siblings hiding secrets, lies, and shadows of the past.

THE WAILING DARKNESS puts sisters Sam and Sandy in the middle of another puzzling mystery. Only two people know the real reason Darcy O’ Sullivan, fainted in the middle of her performance, and one of them is Sam. When the girls discover that a banshee has been making appearances all over town, the race to find out who she’s after, begins. Is Darcy the person destined to die, or, is the wailing woman after Sam, Sandy, or Jeremy? After a series of close calls, it seems no one safe from the banshee’s predictions of death.
